DIRECTIONS FOR USING THE | ILFORD ALPHA LANTERN PLATES. | The exposure required for contact printing with a negative of | ordinary density, will be about two minutes, at a distance of six | inches from a fishtail gas burner. It is important that the frame | holding the negative be placed at exactly the same distance from | the light for each exposure. | If preferred, the exposure can be made by burning about 2 inches | of Magnesium Ribbon at a distance of one foot from the negative. | DEVELOPMENT. | No. 1. | Hydrokinone & 80 grains | Bromide Potassium 15 ., | Sulphite Soda & 1 ounce | Water & to 20 ounces | No. 2. | Soda Hydrate & 30 grains | Water & & 20 ounces | For use take equal quantities of each. | The Hydrokinone solution should not be used after it has | become yellow, as it loses its developing power. | After development the manipulations will be the same as for | negatives. | NOTE.-A green tone is an indication of under exposure, and a | very red tone over exposure. On completion, if the colour is not | what is desired, it can be modified in the Alpha or any other toning | bath. A properly exposed plate requires about the same time in | the developing solution as an ordinary Ilford plate. | Use plenty of Yellow Light for the manipulation of these plates. | PREPARED ONLY BY THE | BRITANNIA WORKS COMPANY, LIMITED, | ILFORD, LONDON, E.
